What will the Lord do?

Unfortunately, we have had many decades now of a watered-down understanding of God. Many people try to divorce God’s Old Testament actions from Jesus New Testament actions. Now there can be many reasons for this like Bad teaching, Pollyanna attitude, denominational bias the list goes on and on.

Some people who lean very heavy on the Grace side of things go so far as to never acknowledge Jesus’s more “harder” saying or even read the book of Revelation. Thereby creating an unhealthy view of God himself. Part of this is bad teaching and part of it is the failure of the modern prophetic movement to add corrections as needed.

A good example happening today would be the interrelation between the Modern Prophetic movement and Mark 12. In this section of scripture, Jesus confronts the Pharisees with a harsh story.

“A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place. At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. But they seized him, beat him and sent him away empty-handed. Then he sent another servant to them; they struck this man on the head and treated him shamefully. He sent still another, and that one they killed. He sent many others; some of them they beat, others they killed.

“He had one left to send, a son, whom he loved. He sent him last of all, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’

“But the tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ So they took him and killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard. “What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others. Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture:

“‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;

the Lord has done this,

and it is marvelous in our eyes” Mark 12

The first thing that should be noted is what follows after this, it says, “Then the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders looked for a way to arrest him because they knew he had spoken the parable against them.”

The chief priests and the teachers were God’s Pastors and leaders in that day. There corruption and ways of dealing with the Lord’s people had reached heaven and the Lord was giving them what I would call there final warning.

Let me break this down.

God had provided a field for them to manage. He provided protection, a wine press (place of teaching & refinement and a watchtower (a place for the intercessors and prophets) Then he handed it over to people for the manage of it.

But the representatives he sent got beat up. In the end, he sent the ultimate representative. After that failed he was left with no choice but to destroy what he had built.

After my experiences back east, on staff with a large prophetic ministry and hearing the stories of how badly the modern prophetic movement has sold out to the spirit of mammon accord to Jeremiah Johnson ministries from Florida. I can say the solution to the problem is Mark 12.

Because I can tell you right now I believe many prophetic ministries are sitting somewhere between verses 5 to 10. And even though no one was literally “killed” many have been beaten up emotionally, demoted and demeaned for trying to make a correction. One I know was even taken to court. So right now the Prophetic is in need of a serious correction. And I seriously wonder how many ministries are about to no longer exist.

Many would see the ending of the story. Totally ignoring the messengers that were sent by his grace and say “that’s not the God I serve.”

Well, your right. You painted your God with a pink brush and totally forgot the rest of who He is.

* He is the God who sent His son to die the most painful death so that he might

fill His house with the biggest family ever conceived of.

* He is the God who ordered the Israelite army to destroy whole nations just so they would not pollute his people.

* He is the God who opened the sea for the Jews to cross over on. But then closed it killing perhaps hundreds of thousands of Egyptian warriors.

* He jealously protects His Name, His Glory, His Story.

* He puts leaders in place and takes them down.

* And have you read the book of Revelation?

Oh, but if you follow some of “new” teaching coming out of the modern prophetic they now claim the book of Revelation was totally symbolic and has already come to pass. Really!!! I have a fair grasp of history, I don’t recall a third of the stars falling or a worldwide earthquake. Or a mass attempt to mark the world with a number on the forehead or hand.

The older guard of the Prophetic is about to be challenged by the rising new generation, it’s already started. And they are going to be a lot like John the Baptist, not well liked, maybe a little smelly and definitely a lot like a bull in a china closet to the status quo.

And that’s a good thing. Because John was the forerunner, his job was getting things ready for Jesus. And in some ways I think this movement will be doing a lot of the same.

Are you ready?
